SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA – San Ramon’s newest public art addition is here. A 13-foot bronze eagle has landed at San Ramon Memorial Park. The sculpture, called ‘Liberty,’ is the largest bronze eagle in California and the city’s biggest public art piece.
The eagle is posed with wings outstretched in a protective stance. It represents freedom, strength, and vigilance. Local artist Brian Keith, who created the sculpture, said he was inspired by the Golden Eagles that live in the Tri-Valley and wanted to capture their presence for the community.
San Ramon commissioned Liberty in 2018, and it was installed on Nov. 21, 2025.
Finishing touches were completed before the dedication ceremony on Dec. 8. The project cost about $250,000, and it was funded by a combination of city money and private donations.
At the dedication, Mayor Mark Armstrong spoke about the role of public art in the city. Keith shared his inspiration for the piece, and San Ramon Poet Laureate Emerita Jenyth Jo Gearhart-Utchen performed a reading. Visitors were able to walk around the sculpture and see the details up close…
