MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The City of Memphis’ Public Works Division is moving to clear ice and snow from secondary routes to help drivers navigate the city as hazardous conditions continue.
While the Tennessee Department of Transportation is responsible for clearing interstates, the City of Memphis follows a priority-based mitigation plan for clearing non-state roadways.
Public Works crews first focus on clearing at least one lane in each direction on primary roads/highways and emergency routes. Examples include Sam Cooper Boulevard, Poplar Avenue, South Third Street, streets surrounding hospitals, and more…
