Rochester businesses closing in solidarity with anti-ICE protests across nation

Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) — Amid nationwide protests in response to the immigration crackdown unfolding in Minnesota, several small businesses in Rochester plan to close in solidarity.

Niraj Lama, co-owner of Happy Earth Tea in the South Wedge neighborhood, will close his doors Friday.

“It hurts,” he said, when asked about the viability of doing so. “It definitely hurts. But right now, the stakes are so high that it feels like that’s not important right now.”…
