Victim hospitalized after violent home invasion with child present

Sand Lake, NY (WRGB) — New York State Police in Schodack have arrested a Troy man following a violent home invasion in the Town of Sand Lake that left one victim hospitalized and a child present during the incident.

State Police said 44-year-old Benjamin Cramer of Troy, was arrested on January 28, 2026, in connection with the case and now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.

Cramer was charged with:

  • Burglary in the 1st Degree (Class B felony)
  • Assault in the 2nd Degree (Class D felony)
  • Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree (Class E felony)
  • Criminal Obstruction of Breathing (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Harassment in the 2nd Degree (Violation)
