Man faces charges after dashcam shows vehicle striking 2 teens in Lee Co.

EAST ALABAMA (WTVM) – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating after two teens were hit by a car Wednesday while walking in Smiths Station.

ALEA arrested 35-year-old James Gabberd following the incident. He was booked into the Lee County Jail, where he faces the following charges in connection with the incident:

  • Driving under the influence of a controlled substance
  • Improper passing
  • Driving while license suspended
  • Felony leaving the scene of an accident with injuries

In addition, Gabberd also faces charges for failure to appear on theft charges not related to this incident. The suspect is out of jail on a $13,300 bond…
