GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — In a letter to parents on Thursday, Northview Public Schools said they have planned protocols for Friday, as students informed school leadership that they will be walking out of school to participate in a larger national protest.
On Friday, protests will be taking place across the country in response to recent actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers, including the shooting death of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis.
Northview Public Schools said students at the high school spoke with school leaders about their intent to walk out, assuring them it would be a peaceful protest. They said the students also planned for the walkout to take place between classes, to minimize any disruption to the school day…
