After the Jan. 25 snowstorm hit the Upstate, power outages were most prevalent in the North Greenville, Pickens, and Oconee County areas, prompting the activation of line crews and support from across the region to restore power.
Nearly 72 hours after the icy conditions subsided, the northern and western parts of the Upstate are still experiencing around 3,000 power outages, primarily in the mountainous areas of the tri-county region and in the Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op service area.
“Our major outage areas have been addressed, and now we’re in the phase of getting into those extremely icy and challenging areas,” said Riley Morningstar, communications manager at Blue Ridge Electric Co-Op. “None of our linemen have been sent home; we still have nearly 800 people in the field and are aiming to have minimal outages by tonight.”…
