Target to Start Store-Opening Spree This March

New locations in California, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas are part of 30+ stores the retailer plans to open this year

Target Corp. will be opening seven new locations this spring in California, Missouri, New Jersey, North Carolina and Texas, part of a broader expansion plan that continues to emphasize larger-format locations and omnichannel fulfillment.

Five of the seven stores exceed 125,000 square feet, a mark of Target’s recent tilt toward larger store formats that can support both in-store shopping and digital order fulfillment. The openings are among more than 30 stores the retailer plans to debut this year in concert with its long-term goal of building over 300 new locations by 2035.

The new stores are set to open March 15 in six markets, followed by a seventh on March 29, in the following cities:

  • Bakersfield, Calif.
  • Delano, Calif.
  • Springfield, Mo.
  • Jersey City, N.J.
  • Fuquay Varina, N.C.
  • Oak Cliff, Texas
  • West Orange, N.J.

“Our continued commitment to opening new stores is really about showing up for our guests and our communities – and it starts with our incredible store team members,” said Adrienne Costanzo, Target’s chief stores officer. “These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day. It’s how we keep growing thoughtfully, stay connected to our communities and make Target an even better place to shop.”…
