The Little Daisy Bake Shop, a peanut- and nut-free bakery in Montclair, has been filling the community with sweets since it opened in 2011. Now, owner Jennifer Snyder is expanding her sweet reach with a new online venture called Major Crumb. The brand will focus on shipping the bakery’s very popular crumb cakes (they really are AMAZING!) nationwide. It will also support a cause close to Snyder’s heart: Giving back to active military members, veterans and their families in need.
The Making of Major Crumb
“Major Crumb was born out of the intense popularity of our crumb cake and requests to ship it nationwide,” Snyder said. “Our crumb cake was getting picked up at the bakery and taken across state lines to eagerly awaiting groups. At one college sports tailgate, I was introduced as ‘the crumb cake woman’—people’s eyes got really big, and they screamed. Some wanted a photo. Some cursed me out for ruining their diet. It was fantastic.”
Snyder saw an opportunity to share the bakery’s crumb cakes beyond Montclair, thanks to their ability to travel well, freeze easily and be enjoyed at room temperature or warmed up.
Snyder’s holiday test run had locals sending Major Crumb cakes as gifts across the country. She shares that Evie and Stephen Colbert are among the fans—high praise from a couple who know good food and even have their own cookbook…
