3 Baton Rouge area Mardi Gras parades still rolling this weekend despite chilly weather

Although the high temperature is forecast to reach only 36 degrees on Saturday, all three Carnival parades in the Baton Rouge area will roll, krewes confirmed on Thursday.

The Krewe of Oshun parade is set for noon, while the Krewe of Denham Springs parade is scheduled for 3 p.m.

“The party is still on, but it’s going to be a chilly one! We are officially rolling at our normal time of 12:00 PM,” Oshun posted on Facebook.

In the post, Oshun offered a couple of tips for parade day:

  • “Bundle Up! We’re asking all our riders, walkers, and spectators to layer up. Heavy coats, gloves, and hand warmers are highly encouraged!”
  • “Efficiency is Key: We’re working to keep the parade moving smoothly and quickly so we can get everyone through the route and back to the warmth as soon as possible.”

“Purple, green and COLD! Bundle up, and come out to the route,” The Krewe of Denham Springs said in another Facebook post…
