Illinois State Police announce identification of human remains in 14 year cold case

CHICAGO, Ill (WTVO) — The Illinois State Police (ISP) announces the identification of human remains found in 2012, bringing an end to a 14-year-old mystery.

According to police, on February 18, 2012, the remains of an unidentified man were found by a maintenance worker on I-94 under an overpass on Cicero Avenue in Chicago. No foul play was suspected at that time, police said.

Recently, ISP and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office submitted a DNA sample from a possible relative for comparison purposes…
