NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – An 18-year-old man released early from juvenile custody last year has been booked in connection with a New Orleans East killing.
Nelson Banks was granted parole in January 2025 by Orleans Parish Juvenile Court Judge Ranord Darensburg. Banks had been serving a juvenile life sentence that would have kept him in custody until age 21.
Criminal history begins at 14
Banks was originally sentenced after carjacking a 73-year-old woman when he was 14 years-old and running her over with her own car near Bayou St. John.
