A man is dead after intentionally placing himself in front of vehicles, causing a car crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway in front of the PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center RiverBend in Springfield the morning of Jan. 29.
Springfield Police was contacted at about 4:45 a.m. by a caller who said a man had tried to jump in front of her vehicle. The caller advised they were able to swerve around the person but were worried the man’s act was intentional, Springfield Sgt. Del Castillo wrote in a press release.
The first officer arrived on scene within two minutes of the call to find a man dead in the roadway and a vehicle stopped nearby. The vehicle that struck the man was not the original caller, and the driver remained on scene and cooperated with an investigation…
