Child exploitation investigation leads to arrest in Eugene

EUGENE, Ore. – Lane County Sheriff’s detectives have arrested a suspect in a child exploitation investigation, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest took place on Jan. 29 in the area of Commons Drive and Kinsrow Avenue. The suspect, identified as Seth Nishimatsu Smith, a 30-year-old resident of Eugene, was taken into custody and faces 20 counts related to encouraging child sex abuse, according to LCSO officials. Authorities said that the arrest is part of a larger investigation led by the Lane County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
