A Washington father left for work in the morning with an eerie feeling he couldn’t shake — and hours later, he returned home to a devastating scene: his wife, adult son and family dog had all been fatally shot.

Deputy Carly Cappetto, a spokesperson for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, said in a Facebook post that deputies were called just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, to a home in Vaughn on the Key Peninsula after the man reported finding the three deceased.

Responding deputies discovered a woman, her 24-year-old adult son and a dog inside a bedroom, all with apparent gunshot wounds, according to KING 5, KOMO News and the Tacoma News Tribune
