Downtown diners react to Django, Americana closures near Western Gateway Park

DES MOINES, Iowa – Two well-known downtown Des Moines restaurants have called it quits over the past six months.

The French-inspired restaurant, Django, announced on Tuesday that it will shutter on March 14, reportedly due to market and economic conditions that make it tough to operate profitably. The announcement came several months after its neighbor, Americana, closed its doors. Both locations are roughly 500 feet apart off Locust Street near Western Gateway Park.
