Mequon woman advocates for better memory care regulations after father had improper care

MEQUON, Wis. — This April will mark two years since Melissa Walczak’s father passed away. Walczak said he had Alzheimer’s.

“There was a time when he was in memory care that he remembered who I was,” said Walczak. “He looked at me and said, ‘You’re my little girl.’ That’s the last lucid moment we had together.”

Six months before he passed away, she said her family made the decision to put him into a memory care unit at a residential facility…
