A Mesa fire captain will likely lose his job after he was accused of being drunk behind the wheel in an accident that killed a father of five children in New Mexico.
The 45-year-old Casey Russell, who earned $124,462 annually, was put on paid leave with disciplinary processes underway, according to city spokesman Kevin Christopher. Russell was hired in September 2006.
“The City of Mesa holds its employees to high standards of conduct and takes this matter very seriously,” read a part of a city-released statement. “We are committed to accountability and to serving our community”
Russell was expected to appear for his preliminary hearing Jan. 29 at the San Juan County Magistrate Court in Aztec, New Mexico unless his attorney requests a virtual attendance…
