I-95 north in Newton reopens after serious, 3-vehicle crash

Interstate 95 north in Newton, Massachusetts, has been shut down due to a serious crash involving several vehicles.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said in a social media post at 11:40 a.m. that a multiple vehicle crash on I-95 north in Newton was causing “significant delays.”

Aerial images from the scene showed a tractor-trailer blocking all of the northbound travel lanes, with a heavily damaged car pinned between the tractor-trailer and the median. Numerous police and fire vehicles and emergency personnel were on scene. It was not clear if any other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A subsequent email from MassDOT said that I-95 north is closed at mile marker 38 in Newton due to the earlier crash. They said the closure is expected to remain in place for several hours…
