INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman has been accused of neglect after she did not reportedly take a 2-year-old to the hospital for several hours after he suffered from serious head injuries.
According to court documents recently filed in Marion County, Shaneqa Peden was charged with one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious injury, a Level 3 felony. An order issuing a warrant for Peden’s arrest was filed on Thursday.
In April 2025, a 2-year-old child was admitted to an area hospital with a subdural hematoma, contusion to his right lung and bruising under his eyes. A family member of the child told law enforcement that the child was playing in his room, which was found to be locked.

Another family member reportedly forced the door open, striking the child with the door. Officials said the child reportedly was thrown across the room and struck the far wall. Following the incident, the child was “acting ‘slouchy’” and was eventually taken to the hospital…
