CARLISLE, Pa. — An autopsy performed on an inmate found dead in her cell at Cumberland County Prison earlier this month determined she died of natural causes, county officials announced Friday.
Melissa Trayer, 53, was found unresponsive in her cell by prison staff at about 2:50 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, officials said. A medical emergency was called, and correctional officers immediately initiated lifesaving efforts.
