Orange County health officials confirms second measles case in toddler

The Orange County Health Care Agency on Friday confirmed a second measles case, this time in a toddler with no reported international travel.

“Measles is highly contagious. The risk is particularly high for any exposed individuals who are not immunized, especially as cases continue to occur across the country and worldwide,” Dr. Anissa Davis, the county’s deputy health officer, said in a statement. “Vaccination is the best protection.”

Measles is considered the most contagious infectious disease and spreads easily through the air or direct contact with an infected person. People are contagious from approximately four days before the rash begins through four days after the rash appears…
