Chesterfield supervisors opt against Otterdale Road land purchase — for now

The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors chose earlier this week not to proceed with plans to purchase about 99 acres off Otterdale Road.

“The consensus of the board is not to act on the proposed purchase, and continue to act on other options,” Chair Mark Miller said at Wednesday night’s meeting.

The site was attractive to the county because large tracts of undeveloped property are rare given the rate of development in Chesterfield in recent years. The county is looking to build a James River police precinct, a replacement for Midlothian Middle School and a new elementary school on the same site — which would require about 65 contiguous acres, Miller said…
