CLAIBORNE COUNTY — A joint investigation by the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office and the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office has led to multiple arrests following reports of gunfire near the county line earlier this month.
Sheriff Edward Goods said deputies responded during the early morning hours of Jan. 25 to reports of gunfire near the Claiborne–Copiah County line. Because of jurisdictional boundaries, the Copiah County Sheriff’s Office was notified, and both agencies worked together throughout the investigation.
Authorities said a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident was later located, and an attempted traffic stop resulted in a pursuit and crash. Several individuals fled on foot, prompting a coordinated search involving multiple law enforcement agencies…
