PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — A Palm Beach County man arrested under Florida’s “HALO Law” for defending his relative says his cousin was taken to crowded Alligator Alcatraz with temperatures below 40 degrees without proper clothing.
Jose Luis Perez Bravo, Melbi Morales’ 22-year-old cousin, was also taken into custody during the January 14 encounter but was not included in the initial police report.
Morales approached the scene on Jan. 14 to ask why Bravo was being arrested. Florida Highway Patrol troopers ordered him to back up; when he didn’t, the situation escalated quickly, ending in his own arrest. Morales spent 10 hours in jail, missed his child’s audition, and had to pay bond, according to previous reports…
