KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Flights leaving and arriving in Knoxville Saturday morning are likely to be delayed as McGhee Tyson Airport announced its airfield and runways are temporarily closed.
The airport said the closure was due to the rate of continued snow accumulation. Initially, the airport said the closure would be in place until noon. A McGhee Tyson spokesperson told 6 News just after 10:40 a.m. that the closure was extended to 4 p.m.

“If you’re traveling today, please expect flight delays, and check your flight status at flyknoxville.com. Thank you for your patience as we continue to keep safety our number one priority,” the airport wrote on social media.
