I-85 reopens hours after crashes left 100+ vehicles stranded in Kannapolis

Interstate 85 northbound in Kannapolis has reopened hours after several crashes left more than 100 vehicles stranded on the highway.

The lanes were reopened shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday between mile markers 60 and 63.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol said it would take several hours to clear the area and allow people to drive away. State troopers said the North Carolina National Guard, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, and NC Emergency Management “worked diligently” to clear the roadway from major delays…
