The cry of “overdevelopment” is being heard loud and clear in Florida — and Southwest Florida can count itself one of the loudest voices.
With our Legislature doing little to stem heavy-pocketed developers who have their eye on any piece of land that can accommodate hundreds of homes or mega businesses, the state’s residents fear for the future of our environment — with a weary eye on traffic, needed infrastructure, crime and a lack of outdoor recreation opportunities.
The state has made a gesture toward slowing down development with its programs to buy and preserve farm lands and sensitive environmental areas. We give them credit for those much-appreciated programs…
