On Saturday at 10:43 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a cold weather advisory in effect until Sunday at noon for Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Morgan, Marshall, Jackson, DeKalb and Cullman counties.
The weather service states to be ready for, “Very cold wind chills as low as 1 degree below.”
“Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures,” says the weather service. “Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call 211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the cold.”
