BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A shooting in front of the East Feliciana Courthouse during a Mardi Gras parade left five people, including a 6-year-old, injured Saturday.
The shooting happened during the “Mardi Gras in the Country” parade in Clinton. The parade was scheduled to start rolling around noon, and the route was supposed to take the parade down Main Street. The parade did not make it to Main Street before shots were fired. Law enforcement secured the scene and ended the parade when gunfire was heard, East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Jeff Travis said.
Travis said three suspects have been detained, but the motive of the incident is unknown at this time.
