Altoona couple pleads guilty to $58K Amazon package theft

POLK COUNTY, Iowa — An Altoona couple accused of stealing nearly $58,000-worth of Amazon packages they were supposed to deliver had changed their pleas to guilty in the case.

Brandon Kelderman and Madison Kelderman were arrested in October 2025 on one count of first-degree theft each. Sgt. Trevor McGraw of the Ankeny Police Department said the two were working as Flex drivers for Amazon when they kept $57,996 in items they were supposed to deliver to customers.

Many of the stolen items were discovered by police when they served a search warrant at the couple’s Altoona residence, said Sgt. McGraw.

The pair initially pleaded not guilty in the case. Online court records show that last week, they both pleaded guilty to the original charge.
