Rockin’1000 makes U.S. debut at Superdome with Harry Connick Jr.

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – For the first time in the United States, the Rockin’1000 show comes to the Superdome on Saturday night, featuring Harry Connick Jr. as guest artistic director.

Among the 1,000 musicians from around the world will be student musicians from the Ellis Marsalis Center that Connick Jr. co-founded with Branford Marsalis.

“It brings together literally 1,000 musicians of all playing abilities together at the same time, playing live music. It’s been going on in Europe for a while, and this is the first time they’ve brought it to the United States. And they picked the best city, of course, to do it in New Orleans,” said Connick Jr.

New Orleans music legacy represented

Connick Jr. said he has never played with a thousand musicians at once, but the performers taking the stage represent New Orleans music history. Acts include Cowboy Mouth, Rebirth Brass Band and students from the Ellis Marsalis Center…
