It’s the first big weekend for Carnival float parades this weekend, when traditional parades start rolling on the northshore and the East, and some New Orleans’ most unique walking parades hit the streets.
Friday
BOHEME: 7 p.m. Marigny/French Quarter. The dreamiest walking parade is is devoted to absinthe and ruled by a Supreme Green Fairy. The 1,000-marcher parade is composed of several eclectic subkrewes, each more charmingly peculiar than the one before. New this year is Krewe of Britney (Spears) and Krewe de Vélorévolte bicycle squad handing out 20 children’s bicycles. Read more.
