GBI: Sparta brothers sentenced to 20 years in prison for stealing from store poker machines

SPARTA, Ga. — The GBI says two Sparta brothers will spend 20 years in prison for stealing money from video-poker machines.

In a news release, they say a Columbia County judge last Thursday sentenced Quinton Watts, 27, and Phillip Watts, 31, for several crimes, including racketeering, lottery-ticket fraud and theft by taking.

They say the two took part in a scheme to steal cash from those coin-operated games in stores in at least 12 counties from 2021 to 2024. The Georgia Lottery Commission asked the GBI to investigate the case in 2024…
