The Humane Society of St. Lucie County receives a $4,000 grant from national nonprofit Petco Love to support its lifesaving work for animals in the community. The funding helps provide medical care, shelter, and adoption services for abandoned, injured, and at-risk pets in Port St. Lucie.
Nukhet Hendricks, executive director of the Humane Society, says the grant comes at a critical time. “This lifesaving investment will have effects that go beyond our shelter walls. It will improve the health of pets all over our community,” says Hendricks.
The funds will be used to increase access to veterinary care, support spay and neuter services, and expand adoption outreach—especially for animals with medical needs or extended stays.
