HOLLEY, N.Y. — Residents at Ackley Manor in Orleans County say they’ve been without heat for several days amid a brutal cold snap. News10NBC spoke with tenants about their struggles and how they plan to cope.
“I’ve been out of heat since last Thursday. I think it’s the 22nd, if I’m not mistaken,” Wilfredo Torres said. Torres, who has lived at Ackley Manor for six years, explained how the cold has affected his health. “My bones. I have arthritis. And I got a spinal stenosis. I had two heart attacks and with the cold, it’s just hurting my bones,” Torres said.
Torres says Ackley Manor provided him with two space heaters while repairs are awaited. Other residents say they’ve also been impacted by the outages…
