Extreme Cold and Dangerous Wind Chills Sunday

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Brief snow showers hit the Suncoast overnight. This video from Parrish from Peter Steinmaker shows flurries flying in the wind.

A few lingering showers, including a few snow showers, will be with us Sunday morning. Temps near the coast are near freezing to start the day, but below freezing for inland areas. Similar low temperatures return Monday morning, but with lighter winds. Monday and Tuesday will bring areas of morning frost with our lighter winds.

Skies clear our for a sunny but windy Sunday. Highs are mainly in the 40s. Northwest winds of 20-25 mph will gust to 35 mph. Sunday night will be mostly clear with lows in the 20s and low 30s, and wind chills in the 20s and 10s for inland areas.

Monday will bring improving conditions. Sunny skies continue and highs in the 50s with lighter north-northeast winds of 5-10 mph. The cold air will continue to moderate through the week with highs back in the 60s. Thursday a weak cold front moves through with a 60 percent chance of showers.

Beach Forecast: Extremely Dangerous Conditions

Extremely dangerous conditions continue for boaters, swimmers, and beachgoers. The National Weather Service is urging everyone to stay off the water and away from the surf. Very strong rip currents continue Sunday. Do not enter the water. If you must be near the beach, stay well back from the shoreline and secure any loose items that could be blown away by strong winds…
