Central NY’s arctic freeze will finally loosen its grip on Monday

Bitter arctic cold will gradually release its grip on Syracuse and Central New York on Sunday, with temperatures climbing into the teens before things get closer to normal on Monday.

A cold weather advisory that has been in effect across much of Central New York will expire at 9 a.m. Sunday as temperatures moderate slightly. However, wind chills ranging from 10 to 20 degrees below zero will persist through this morning, particularly in areas with clearing skies.

Sunday’s overnight lows will drop into the single digits, though widespread cloud cover should prevent temperatures from reaching advisory criteria again.
