Madison man arrested after high speed police chase

MONONA, Wis. (WMTV) – Monona Police arrested a 21-year-old Madison man on Friday night after he allegedly drove more than 100 miles per hour, engaging officers in a chase.

According to MOPD, an officer saw a car traveling 95 miles per hour on the Beltline near South Towne Dr. in Monona. The officer tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver then accelerated to speeds over 100 miles per hour.

The car then drove eastbound onto Broadway towards US 51, officials said.

Authorities said officers decided to end the chase because of road and traffic conditions. Despite this, the driver continued along Broadway towards Femrite Dr. in Madison…
