“We are thrilled that Victoria Bogatz chose to organize a four-session Native Plants 101 course for our community,” said Ruth Richter, President of Green Bellevue. “As a Bee City USA community, Bellevue has many new and experienced native gardeners, and this subject matter is vital to the health of our pollinators, ecosystems, and neighborhoods.”
The series was organized by Victoria Bogatz, the 2025–26 Nebraska Youth Poet Laureate, as her civic engagement project with support from the Nebraska Writers Collective. “Using my passion for environmental education, I decided to create a workshop series on native plants,” said Bogatz. “I hope this series inspires the Bellevue community to learn more about native gardening and how it can help the planet.”
Green Bellevue is partnering with Bogatz to promote the series across its channels and membership. Two Green Bellevue board members and Bee City USA co-chairs—Nancy Scott, Nebraska Certified Nurseryman, and Nancy Crews of Milkweed Matters—will lead sessions, alongside additional presentations highlighting native plants in famous gardens and outstanding native shrubs for Nebraska landscapes…
