Bitter cold grips Northeast Ohio as snow chances increase in week ahead

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Frigid air and occasional light snow will dominate Northeast Ohio through the weekend, with wind chills dropping well below zero at times before a more organized round of snowfall moves in later next week, according to forecasters at the National Weather Service Cleveland.

A chance of snow showers continues this afternoon under partly sunny skies, with highs struggling to reach the low teens. Gusts from the north will make it feel closer to zero, and only a light dusting, generally less than an inch, is expected where snow develops.

Snow chances taper off tonight, but the bigger concern becomes the cold. Overnight lows are forecast to dip to around zero, with wind chills falling as low as 10 below in some areas, creating potentially hazardous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors…
