Las Vegas Raiders Poised to Tap Klint Kubiak as New Head Coach

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Raiders are reportedly set to name Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak as their new head coach, with an official announcement expected after the Super Bowl. Sources indicate that a deal is imminent following Kubiak’s meetings with both the Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday.

Kubiak, the son of former Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, would become the fifth full-term head coach for the Raiders since 2021. His appointment would come after a successful single season in Seattle, where his offensive strategies played a significant role in the Seahawks achieving a franchise record for regular-season wins. Under Kubiak’s guidance, Seattle’s offense was ranked third in points per game (28.4) and eighth in total yards (351.4), marking a substantial improvement from the previous season.

The Raiders’ search for a new coach has been spearheaded by general manager John Spytek, in collaboration with minority owner Tom Brady. Kubiak was among 15 candidates interviewed for the position.

Meanwhile, with Kubiak reportedly off the board, the Arizona Cardinals have announced the hiring of Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur as their new head coach.

Kubiak, 38, is a finalist for the Associated Press Assistant Coach of the Year award. His extensive coaching background includes stints as offensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints (2024), passing game coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers (2023) and Denver Broncos (2022), and various roles with the Minnesota Vikings (2019-2021).

The Raiders are embarking on a significant rebuild following a challenging season under former coach Pete Carroll, which saw the team finish 3-14 and rank at the bottom in several key offensive categories. The team is well-positioned for this overhaul, boasting the projected second-most cap space in the NFL for free agency. Key offensive players like tight end Brock Bowers and rookie running back Ashton Jeanty are already in place, and the Raiders hold the top pick in the 2026 draft, with many expecting them to select Indiana quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza.
