Senior Brody Jones set a school record in the 1000-meter run to pace the Canisius men’s and women’s indoor track teams at the YSU Mid Major Invitational Saturday in Youngstown, Ohio.
On the men’s side, Jones earned a first-place finish with his record-setting performance in the 1000-meter run, crossing the line in 2:27.53. Jones broke a record previously set by James Bialasik in 2001. Freshman Jacob Granville (2:36.19) placed ninth in the event. Jones also placed fifth in the 3000-meter run, setting a personal record with a time of 8:35.82. Sophomore Fenway Breckels (8:36.53) finished just behind Jones in the same event, placing seventh.
