MINT HILL, N.C. — Paul Campbell, who led the Mint Hill Fire Department for two decades and helped shape modern emergency services in the town, has died after suffering a massive stroke at a care facility in Greenville, North Carolina.
Campbell served as chief of the Mint Hill Volunteer Fire Department from 1978 to 1998, overseeing major advancements in fire protection and emergency medical services during is tenure.
“Paul was a simple man who was a natural leader for our fire dept. in the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s,” the Mint Hill Fire Department wrote. “He taught so many of us, not only about the technical side of fire fighting, but about how to be a servant to the people.”…
