CLEVELAND — There are new homes in Cleveland’s St. Clair–Superior neighborhood designed to change lives, specifically for people transitioning out of homelessness. The two duplexes, four units total, are part of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry’s affordable housing initiative. For decades, LMM has supported people experiencing homelessness across the region.
“We’ve seen that affordable housing is really the solution for both people that we serve and other people in the community,” explained Michael Sering, the chief program officer of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry. “So, we really wanted to do this pilot project.”
Each unit is a 500-square-foot studio, complete with a galley kitchen, washer and dryer, a walk-in shower and flexible living space. The homes feature a universal design, no-step entry, wider doorways and adaptable layouts.
