KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Knoxville man has been charged after he allegedly scamming a woman at a car wash last month.
According to court records obtained by WVLT News, a woman went to a car wash on Clinton Highway to “cancel multiple subscription accounts.” While there, she spoke with 21-year-old Brent McLeroy, the assistant manager, who said she would have to call customer service to cancel her subscriptions.
McLeroy gave her a number to call from his personal phone, according to court records, and she reportedly had to provide bank information to cancel the subscription.
Shortly after the phone call, court records say the victim reported that someone made five transactions totaling $1,183.25. However, she was able to get all transactions canceled…
