Rochester Fire Department rescues person from cold waters near Charlotte Pier

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — The Rochester Fire Department rescued an individual who fell into the water at Charlotte Pier on Sunday.

According to fire officials, they were called to the scene at 1:26 p.m. for reports of an individual in the water, holding on to a sheet of ice and calling for help near the pier. The incident is said to have happened following the end of Sunday’s Polar Plunge.

Arriving at the scene within 6 minutes, two firefighters rescued the individual with the assistance of responding fire companies. The person was said to have been semi-conscious following the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment due to exposure to “extremely cold water.”…
