Hillsborough County man pleads guilty to impersonating a federal officer

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man pleaded guilty on Thursday to falsely impersonating a federal officer on more than one occasion.

According to a release from the Department of Justice, on Oct. 3, 2024, 20-year-old Marcus Jose Luis Brand conducted canvas interviews of several individuals at their homes while claiming to be a special agent with the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division.

DOJ reports that Brand was wearing a badge on his waistband and told the victims that he was a special agent investigating a dispute between some of the neighbors. He then proceeded to ask them questions…
