Two arrested, four flee after armed robbery of Bay Area jewelry store

Two people were arrested and four others are sought in the armed robbery of a Petaluma jewelry store and attack on a bystander who tried to intervene Saturday afternoon, police said.

Officers responded to the robbery at Gold Rush Jewelers at 385 N. McDowell Blvd. at 4:46 p.m. Saturday and learned that six people had entered the building with hammers, pepper spray and a gun, according to the Petaluma Police Department. The robbers broke the glass of display cases and removed jewelry while one held employees at gunpoint, police said.

The robbers fled after an uninvolved bystander drove the thieves’ unattended vehicle into the storefront to distract them, police said. One robber then pepper-sprayed the bystander as four of the thieves fled in the vehicle…
