On Friday, established members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office stepped into the glow of new badges and ranks in a ceremony steeped in tradition and community. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri presided over the momentum, giving the oath of office to 25 new deputies and recognizing 15 promotions within the force. Held at 4:00 p.m. at the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road, families, friends, and command staff assembled to toast to the future of these law enforcement professionals.
As joyful cheers softened into proud murmurs, friends and loved ones watched the hard-earned transitions. Newly minted Major Jose Camacho was honored alongside Captains Eric Forcade and Bronson Taylor. Integral ranks filled as Lieutenants Kirsti Cantelmo, Mike Kilian, Melinda Stowell, and Erik Zabik took their vows, their new roles etching out paths ahead. Not far behind, Sergeants Dave Brenn, Christopher Jowell, Nicholas Dinkins, Corey Van Buren, and Melissa Van Swearingen stood, their names forging into the Sheriff’s tapestry of leadership.
The ceremony wasn’t reserved just for sworn officers. The Sheriff’s Office underscored its commitment to civilians who keep the gears turning. Jade Belcher was promoted to Communications Center Manager, Megan Nowakowski to Analyst Supervisor, and Charles Galloza to Flight Maintenance Supervisor.
